Dear Mr Ali,
I am writing to confirm that the University has now completed its search for the
information which you requested on 09 May 2021.
You requested the following:
I have an interest in how you have approached your graduation ceremonies
during the Coronavirus pandemic. Please could you answer the following:
1. For your students who graduated in 2020, have they had an in-person
graduation yet?
Brunel University London have not been able to hold an in-person graduation for our
2020 graduates. However, we did hold a virtual graduation for our 2020 graduates.
2. If no to question 1., are there plans to have an in-person graduation,
when restrictions have been lifted? If so, wil they be the same as
previous cohorts (2019, 2018, etc.) and when are they currently
planned for?
Brunel University London wil invite all 2020 graduates to a ceremony in the future.
Four out Postgraduates this wil be from December if restrictions allow and for
Undergraduates this wil be from July 2022. It wil be the same format as for previous
years. We are planning the winter ceremonies for the Postgraduate 2021 cohort with
the intention for extra 1500 Postgraduate students from 2020 to attend extra
ceremonies on a first come first served basis, that is held at an external venue. We
are then planning to invite all students that have not as yet attended to our extended
Summer Graduation in July 2022. One week wil host the usual 2022 cohort and the
second week wil be for 2020 and 2021 cohorts.
3. For your students who are due to graduate in 2021, wil they have an
in-person graduation? If no, what are your plans for these students?
Brunel University London Undergraduates due to Graduate in Summer 2021 have
been invited to a virtual Graduation, and Undergraduates wil be invited to the 2022
in-person ceremonies in July 2022. Al Postgraduate students graduating in 2021,
including those invited to the summer virtual celebration wil be invited to the
December 2021 even. The December ceremonies are for out Postgraduates only.
