RE: Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your request for information in relation to Forest Service land which is for
sale or likely to be offered for sale.
I wish to advise that this Department has completed its search and can confirm the
Department holds the information requested.
For background, this Department’s forested lands are sustainably managed in line with the
Forestry Act (NI) 2010. Consequently, DAERA Forest Service do not routinely advertise
land for sale.
Government procedures are in place which govern the disposal of any surplus public land.
Departments are required to ascertain any wider public interest in the asset within the
public sector prior to any disposal through external market procedures.
In response to your specific question relating to forested land currently for sale or in the
future, I can confirm that Forest Service has a parcel of land in the disposal process,
having been advertised for sale in October 2020, and sale agreed in March 2021, and now
at contract completion stage. Forest Service has no plans to advertise any other land for
sale at this time.
If you require any clarification, believe that any part of your request has been overlooked,
misunderstood or misinterpreted, please contact me in the first instance to see if it is a
matter that can be resolved.
Sustainability at the heart of a living, working, active landscape valued by everyone.
