Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act, received on 22nd January 2021, reference number FOI 21-049
. I can
confirm that the Health Board has completed a search of its records and has
established that it does hold some information falling within the confines of
your request as follows: Do you provide access to an Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor?
Access to independent domestic abuse advisors is through the 3rd sector. The
Health Board intranet provides information about the Health Boards
Safeguarding Service for staff to obtain information on a variety of
safeguarding subjects including Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and
Sexual Violence and this includes contact details for specilaist providers, risk
assessments and referral forms.
If yes, do you provide access to an IDAA at every hospital site?
Do you employ a domestic abuse specialist nurse?
The Health Board does not employ a Domestic Abuse Specialist Nurse. The
Health Board’s Safeguarding Team provide advice and support to staff who
would then refer on to specialist providers.

Do you produce an annual safeguarding report on domestic abuse?
The Health Board actively contributes to annual reports produced by the
Regional Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence
Partnership Board, the Gwent Safeguarding Adults and Childrens Regional
Board Reports and the Public Health Wales Safeguarding Report.
Do you conduct internal audits to ensure compliance to the domestic
No specific audits have been conducted to date but NHS Wales Internal Audit
service has undertaken a generic review of Safeguarding.
Have you conducted training for staff on domestic abuse in the last 12
months. If no, in the last 24 months?
The Health Board delivers the NHS Wales ‘Ask and Act’ training package. As
would be expected some sessions where cancelled in the last year due to the
COVID-19 pandemic but these have now restarted and we offer four (4)
sessions per month.
How many domestic abuse, stalking and harassment (DASH) risk
assessments were completed by the trust/health board in 2016, 2017,
2018, 2019 and 2020?
We do not hold the number of DASH assessments undertaken as these are
based on individuals circumstances and we do not “count” the number of
