Dear Jake Hurfurt,
Since 23 March 2020 no high table dinners have been held due to the pandemic.
As a result of the pandemic, the format of our two formal annual welcome dinners for new students
in October was changed into a series of much smaller socially-distanced dinners in compliance with
Covid 19 regulations and advice at the time. A full risk assessment was undertaken beforehand (see
attached) and careful consideration given before deciding it was safe to proceed with appropriate
safety measures in place. The safety measures included: reducing attendance to fewer than 30
people (down from the normal capacity of 158), the introduction of plexiglas screens to separate
diners, disposable cutlery, and the cancellation of the normal pre-dinner drinks.
A total of 10 of these restricted attendance socially-distanced introductory dinners have been held
since 23 March 2020 all of which were in October 2020.
The menu for the most recent dinner was
Sea bass, noodles and salad
Beef in ale, mashed potato, parsnips and greens
Coffee panna cotta
Vegan options were also available (mushroom patty starter; butternut squash and kale stew main;
coffee and almond panna cotta).
All ten dinners took place in October 2020, and so I attach Risk assessments for that month.
Yours
