Freedom of Information Request – FOI2021/00007 
 
I am writing in response to your email received by Post Office Limited (“Post Office”) 
on 6 January, which I am dealing with under the terms of the Freedom of Information 
Act 2000 (“FOIA”).  
 
In your email you have requested the information shown below, and I can confirm 
that Post Office does hold some of the information you have requested. 
 
How many Subpostmasters or counter staff (multis and independants) have 
tested positive for Covid? 
 
Confirmed Coronavirus Case Closures is 106* 
 
*This information is not captured at individual level.  Post Office would not know who has had a Positive 
test, only that someone within the branch has tested positive, this could mean multiple people.   
 
How many branches have had to temporarily close because of this? 
 
Total Closures is 1,759* 
*Al  closures are logged as Coronavirus so would cover instances of a positive case, reduced hours or self-
isolation etc.  
 
How many days of Covid caused closure has the network experienced? 
 
Total Closure days is 2,419 (including weekend days)* 
*Please note not al  reports of cases had a closure and reopening date entered against them. 
 
Is the rate of positive test and closure increasing? 
 
The rate is currently lower than reported during March / April 2020, however the rates 
have begun to increase since 30th December 2020.
