Dear Ms Bamford,
Your request was received on 22 October 2020 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
I had requested [our ref. FOI-2020-663] a provision of information regarding mature
mathematics undergraduate applicants recently, which was refused.
In the response letter, it was stated that it was possible to provide these: “(i) a table of offer
details, including College details but grouped to some degree; (ii) a separate table of exam
results (including STEP), including College details but grouped to some degree; and (iii) a final
summary of offers and acceptances by College”.
I am now writing again to request this information, as it has been suggested (as quoted above).
Note that this was for mature applicants in particular.
The requested information is attached. We have aggregated the application years to prevent the risk of
any individual being identified. For the same reason, we have limited this dataset to A Level and IB
qualifications (as well as STEP). In presenting the information in this way, the University is engaging
the exemption at section 40(3A)(a) of the Act because the release of the raw data would breach the
first data protection principle (the fair, lawful and transparent processing of personal data) as set out in
the General Data Protection Regulation. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption under the
