was actioned under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in which you requested the
following information –
Dear Liverpool City Council,
You have stated that there are in excess of 400 vacant Care Home beds in the city at
present - can you please confirm:
How many of these vacancies are EMI Nursing beds?
The names of the Care Homes with current EMI nursing vacancies
The Covid status of each of these Care Homes
Response:
Liverpool City Council confirms that it holds information relevant to the terms of your
request.
Please see below information based on data from the date of your request (4 September
2020).
Some care homes classify their beds as ‘flexible’ – this might mean that, for
example, they could be used for either EMI nursing or EMI residential. There were
78 beds that were either only for EMI Nursing or could be used for EMI Nursing and
another bed type.

We cannot release information about the Covid-19 status of individual homes as the
numbers of residents in some homes are low enough to create a risk of the
identification of individuals, thereby resulting in sharing of their personal health
information. We are applying Section 40(2) Freedom of Information Act 2000
exemption to this part of your request.
This concludes our response.
In accordance with the application of Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
we have not provided all of the information requested. As such this letter serves as a
Section 17 Notice under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
If you remain dissatisfied you may also apply to the Information Commissioner for a
