Dear Michael,
Re: Request for Information – Freedom of Information Act 2000
I wish to confirm that the Communities Directorate has now completed its search
for the information which you requested by e-mail on 11 February 2020.
Your questions and my findings are below:-
Between the dates of 1st Jan 2019 and 1st of February 2020 how many
safeguarding referrals have been received from the following organisations
"Department for Work & Pensions", "Centre for Health & Disability
Assessments also known as Maximus", "ATOS also known as Independent
Assessment Services" and "Capita"?
The referral data asked for is included in other on our recording system and we
have received in excess of 500 referrals in the period 1 January 2019 and 1
February 2020. Manually screening these will take in excess of 30 hours and
therefore, I apply section 12 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act. This is
because it is estimated that the time taken to provide the information would
exceed the appropriate limit of 18 hours.
Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act is a provision which allows a
public authority to refuse to comply with the request for information where the
cost of compliance is estimated to exceed a set limit known as the appropriate
limit. In this case it is estimated that to search for the information you have
requested will take more than 18 hours, equivalent to a cost of £450 and this is
the basis of the decision.
