 Dear Mr Jones
Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA) 2000/Environmental Information Regulations 2004 relating to residential care.
Please see the response provided below:
1. How many people in residential care are you currently fully or partially funding?
Kent County Council are currently funding 4636 clients in residential care, broken down as
follows:
392 Clients are not currently required to contribute towards the cost of their care funded by
KCC.
196 Clients have been assessed to pay the full cost of their care funded by KCC.
4048 Clients have been assessed to pay a contribution towards the cost of their care funded by
KCC.

2. How many people in residential care in your local authority area are self funding?
KCC does not hold this data, we only hold data on KCC funded residential care.

3. How many deferred payment agreements for residential care are currently in effect at
your local authority?
KCC currently has 128 open Deferred Payment Agreements. 99 of which relate to clients
currently in residential care, the remaining 29 relate to clients who’s funding has ceased, but
their debt remains unpaid.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied with
legislation, you have 40 working days from the date of this response to ask for a review.
You can do this by following our complaints process; details can be found at this link
https://www.kent.gov.uk/about-the-council/complaints-and-compliments#tab-10 on our
website. Please quote reference [iCasework ref].
If you remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can appeal to the Information
Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Details of what you need to do, should you wish to pursue this course of action, are
available from the Information Commissioner’s website http://ico.org.uk/concerns
Yours sincerely
