Dear Mr Bell
Freedom of Information request reference: 56612
Thank you for your e-mail of 24 November, in which you asked for:
How many SIA (Security Industry Authority) licences have been revoked for door
supervisors (bouncers) working in the UK in the past 5 years?
When searching for cases, please include those that use any other terms that mean the
same thing as: ‘attack’ ‘assault’ AND ‘bouncer’ ‘door security’ ‘door supervisor’ or ‘door
staff’.
If possible, please include the location of where those licences were revoked.
Please present the information by calendar year (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) in a
simple table.
Your request for information on the number of licences issued has been handled as a
request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
The SIA holds data on each of the subject areas in which it issues a licence and a search
has been conducted on Door Supervisor licences. The number of SIA licences revoked for
Door Supervisors working in the UK in the last five years is as follows:
Door Supervisor Licences Revoked
2015
2016
2017
2018
2019
(Q1 - Q3)
1,891
1,278
1,179
902
713
Your request also asked that information be included, if possible, as to the location of
where the licences were revoked. In order to proceed with this part of your request, can
you please clarify the ‘location’ criteria?
If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review
of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to
xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx, quoting reference 56612. If you ask for an internal review,
it would be helpful if you could say why you are dissatisfied with the response.
As part of any internal review the Department's handling of your information request would
be reassessed by staff who were not involved in providing you with this response. If you
were to remain dissatisfied after an internal review, you would have a right of complaint to
the Information Commissioner as established by section 50 of the FOIA.
Yours sincerely
