Thank you for your request for information, which we received on 21 November 2019. This 
information is being provided as a statutory obligation under the Freedom of Information Act 
Your request 
.I would like to make an FOI request for the following. 
1.  What is the total head count of Southwark Councils Planning department? 
2.  From the total above, how many of the individuals live in the borough of Southwark? 
3.  From the planning department how many of the team uses Canada Water Tube station 
to start their commute to work on a daily basis during the rush hour? 
4.  From the planning department how many of the staff designated as having an input to 
or involved with granting permission for the Canada Water Master Plan, use Canada 
Water Tube station to start their commute to work on a daily basis during the rush 
Our response  
1.  As at October 2019 – 98 
2.  The council holds this information, however the information you requested is being 
withheld under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The exemption which applies to 
this information is Section 40(2) - Personal Data. 
Personal data is exempt information under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information 
Act if disclosing data of the type covered by section 40(3)(a) would contravene any of 
the data protection principles. We maintain that releasing this information is not

compatible with the Council’s requirement to process personal data fairly and lawfully. 
Section 40(2) is an absolute exemption under the Act and is therefore not subject to 
the public interest test. 
 3 & 4. Under section 1(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 we have a duty to inform   
            you that we do not hold this information. 
Please note that under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 
2003 Southwark Council ask not to receive unsolicited marketing communications.
