Environmental Information Regulations 2004 – Grant applications received form Sheffield
Wildlife Trust

With reference your request to see details of EWGS grant applications received from Sheffield
Wildlife Trust since January 2007 including any correspondence between Sheffield Wildlife Trust and
the Forestry Commission relating to grant applications.
Our policy is to be as open with the information that we hold as possible.  The information you are
seeking is exempt under section 39(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 because this
information is "environmental information", as defined in paragraph 2 of the Environmental
Information Regulations 2004.  Your request must therefore be considered under these Regulations.
I understand that our Woodland Officer, Tristan Galletly has recently spoken to you following your
request and clarified that you are only interested in Blacka Moor SSSI/Nature Reserve and Wyming
Brook. A summary of EWGS details of both sites follows:
18322 Blacka Moor
EWGS for WIG-Access, WMG Bird/Bio and WRG

Land unregistered on Rural Land Register and applicant wished to resubmit application at a later date
without Land Use Cross check Failures.  Withdrawal of application was agreed over the phone.

21499 Blacka Moor
EWGS for WIG Access, WMG, FLA and WRG

Applicant reconsidered application and decided to resubmit with better detail.
The above applications were made by a stand-in reserve manager on maternity leave cover. No written
correspondence, all discussions between Sheffield Wildlife Trust and FC either site meetings, a
meeting at NE office, Bakewell or repeated phone calls.  Withdrawal of application was agreed over
the phone
24690 Blacka Moor
Application submitted following site meeting (on 26th October 2010) with recently returned Reserves
manager.  Latest application needed to be more in line with latest EWGS application requirements
with sufficient detail to draw up a detailed contract for consultation.  Application was finally submitted
on 13th Dec.  FC informed verbally that the Reserve Advisory Committee has been provided with
details of the application and Mr Fitzmaurice had personally been taken around the site to explain what
is involved with the scheme.  Most negotiation done over the phone with a couple of e-mails referring
to specific details or revisions made to WIG calculators and Maps for contract.
