Dear Mr Ward,
Thank you for your email of 9 October in which you asked for the following information:
“I bought an Harley Davidson MT350 recently, I would love to hear of the bikes history whist
with the MOD, I dont have the military registration, but the V/N Chassis frame number is
1HD6RLT1XTY000095, the engine number 238744. The bike was registered 11/10/1995.
The present registration is N679RAP.”
I am treating your correspondence as a request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. A search across the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has now been completed, and I can
confirm that the department holds information relevant to your request.
However, section 21(1) of the FOI Act states that information is exempt if it is reasonably
accessible to the applicant by other means. The MERLIN archive was released as part of a
previous FOI request, which can be accessed at:

Under Section 16 (Advice and Assistance), I can advise you that the database in the above link is
split into seven spreadsheets. The first has a list of vehicles, while sheets two through seven have
the service histories. To search for a vehicle, you must press Ctrl + F, then select ‘Options’ and
then select ‘Workbook’ from the ‘Within’ drop down list. Information relevant to you request can be
found by typing the vehicle registration number 74KL51, and then enter. Information relevant to
your request can for found on sheet one, cell A140068 and sheet five, cells 61121 through to
61123.
Furthermore, you may wish to note that when the MERLIN database was archived into its current
format some data may have been lost or corrupted. You should, therefore, be cautious that some
of the data may be inaccurate.
