Dear Mr Slingsby

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) request received on 13 October 2019. You
asked:

Please itemise the total number of audio recording units available to the Centre for Health and
Disability Assessments (CHDA) for use as part of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Work Capability Assessments (WCA).

Moreover, please itemise specifically how many of these units are cassette-based recorders
and CD-based.

In response I can confirm that the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA)
currently has 209 pieces of audio equipment across its estate; 33 are CDs and 176 are tape-
recording units.

The equipment is used for all Work Capacity Assessments associated with Universal Credit
and Employment Support Allowance; the information cannot be broken down further.
