5G Information Request

The request was partially successful.

Dear Carmarthenshire Council,

Following from a request I viewed for you to release information relative to Carmarthenshire councils assumed 5g strategy. I note that Carmarthenshire council stated that they have no strategy relative to 5g. Therefore I ask simply, does Carmarthenshire county council either presently or iminantly propose to either directly or sub contractually allow for the roll out of 5g infrastructure throughout Carmarthenshire whether with or without a strategy? Do Carmarthenshire council Intend to execute or allow the roll out of 5g infrastructure throughout Carmarthenshire? Do Carmarthenshire council take full responsibility for the well being of Carmarthenshire citizens relative to 5g? Are Carmarthenshire council staff aware of the potential implications of 5g and of the statements made in refusal of 5g in both Brussels and Glastonbury parish (among others) in which protection of citizens is relatively prevalent over unethical and questionably illegal corporate telecommunications initiatives such as the untested 5g roll out proposals?

Yours faithfully,

James castell

Dear Mr. Castell

I refer to your request for information, which was received on 10th
September, 2019 and has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.

The specific information you requested was as follows:

Following from a request I viewed for you to release information relative
to Carmarthenshire councils assumed 5g strategy. I note that
Carmarthenshire council stated that they have no strategy relative to 5g.
Therefore I ask simply, does Carmarthenshire county council either
presently or imminently propose to either directly or sub contractually
allow for the roll out of 5g infrastructure throughout Carmarthenshire
whether with or without a strategy?

Potential early access to 5G forms part of a digital infrastructure City
Deal project planned for the Swansea Bay City Region as a whole. This
project is in its business planning stages, with approval required from
the Swansea Bay City Deal’s Joint Committee, the Welsh Government and the
UK Government.

Do Carmarthenshire council Intend to execute or allow the roll out of 5g
infrastructure throughout Carmarthenshire?

As above

Do Carmarthenshire council take full responsibility for the well- being of
Carmarthenshire citizens relative to 5g?

The City Deal digital infrastructure project is a partnership scheme
between all four Swansea Bay City Region local authorities, the Welsh
Government, the UK Government and the private sector.

Are Carmarthenshire council staff aware of the potential implications of
5g and of the statements made in refusal of 5g in both Brussels and
Glastonbury parish (among others) in which protection of citizens is
relatively prevalent over unethical and questionably illegal corporate
telecommunications initiatives such as the untested 5g roll out proposals?

The digital infrastructure project is in its business planning stages.

Yours sincerely

Julie John
