RM calling Severn Trent Waters (03456038598) 24.04.19 @ 09.48 Speaking with Latoya Grant (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.xx.xx). informing them of the pollution. She will raise a job and get someone to go out and have a look. This should be in the next 2 hours. She will call me back with an update. RM said she will print off the report and send it to her.
RM calling Reporter. RM asking whether he had any photos. He said that he hasn't, but that someone had put photos on Facebook yesterday (23/4/19). Reporter wishes to be kept informed.
Spoke with Simon Roe - happy to pass to him.
Severn Trent have called back to give an update for NIRS 1696951.
The crew have been out and confirmed that there is a misconnection at the location. The property in question, Margaret Gardens. Approx. 20 properties which connect to a foul line which then leads to a surface water line that then leads to the outfall. There is a lot of misconnection work to be done.
Impact on the watercourse. Constant flow at the outfall. Greyish water. Within the watercourse there is faeces visible.
Ammonia reading at the POD - 3.61 Milligrams per litre
11-25 meters being impacted by the discolouration.
Upon crews attendance they didn't see any wildlife in distress or dead. The council has taken report of a dead bird in the area.
This will go through the misconnections process now and they will send over a story board too.

S.Roe spoke with P.Mullard to investigate further for a training development. Suggested to attend site doubled manned and use the multi-meter to take water quality readings of Dissolved Oxygen and Ammonia to assess the environmental impact. Advised to ring Severn Trent W/C 29/04/2019 to establish how much progress has been undertaken in resolving these 20 misconnections and what measures have been put in place to reduce any further pollution to the pond.
30/04/2019
P.Mullard and B.Baily attended the Smethwick Hall Pool finding the pool containing grey water and solid sewage. P.M and B.B collected water samples and sent them to the lab for analysis. Tom reported Severn Trent had attended on the 28/04/19 and not found a blockage.
01/05/2019 P.M, B.B and R. Price attended the Pool meeting James and other Severn Trent employs. Severn Trent found a blockage in the foul sewer, which they then cleared. Field data was collected around the pond. At the surface water outfall pipe: Temperature (Degrees Centigrade) = 13.2 ; Oxygen Saturation = 49.3 %; Dissolved Oxygen = 5.07 mg/L; NH4 = >3 (test could not read higher than 3) The outfall from the curvet: Temperature (Degrees Centigrade) = 12; Oxygen Saturation = 61.3 %; Dissolved Oxygen = 6.5 mg/L; NH4 = 3 Middle of lake close to small island: Temperature (Degrees Centigrade) = 14.1; Oxygen Saturation = 19 %; Dissolved Oxygen = 1.93 mg/L; NH4 = >3 Outfall to cannel: Temperature (Degrees Centigrade) = 14.1; Oxygen Saturation = 19 %; Dissolved Oxygen = 1.93 mg/L; NH4 = >3
Pumps arrived in the afternoon and removed water from the pool to the foul sewer. Treated water from Minworth Sewage Treatment Plant was transported back to dilute the pool, two trucks where doing this on rotation until the evening.
02/05/2019 Report Created By: NIRS2 Application, Printed: 13/06/19, 14:39 Pg 5 of 6 Pgs Protective Marking: PROTECT NATIONAL INCIDENT RECORDING SYSTEM EP - FULL INCIDENT REPORT P.M and R.P attended the Pool. Readings from R.P's Multi Meter suggested NH readings of 16 by the fresh water outfall. However it was clear the blockage had been removed as the flow from the outfall was minimal. A Severn Trent team were filling in an unknown combined sewer overflow which was will likely prevent the foul sewer overflowing again. Pumping and the dilution using treated water continued.
14/05/2019 S.Roe and P.M met with interested community members as well as Tom and other Severn Trent employs. The pool's water quality appeared to have improved, however it still appeared in poor condition. Severn Trent subcontractors were present monitoring the water quality. Transporting water and pumping had stopped.
Further work was to be done on misconnections coming into the pool through the culverted section. This has been raised as another NIRS number 01705882.
