The department has stated:
"Once the report is accepted and the Case Manager makes their decision you will be able to
request a copy of the report. There will be occasions when the Case Manager will not find the
report acceptable and it is returned to Independent Assessment Services (IAS) for further
advice or to clarify the advice provided."
Could provide the number of times that Case managers have found reports unacceptable.”
We are committed to ensuring claimants receive high quality, objective assessments and
assessment reports deemed unacceptable by Case Managers (CMs) are returned to the
provider for reworking. I can advise you that in the last year, April 2018 to March 2019, the
total number of referrals returned to IAS for rework was 7200 which equates to 0.5% of all
referrals IAS received.
The total number of reports referred to IAS by CMs for advice was 6600. Reports are referred
to IAS for advice at any time, for example, following receipt of further evidence after a
decision has been made or for clarification.
