Re: Freedom of Information request Thank you for your request under the

provided on behalf of NHS Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Your request along with the
CCG’s response is detailed below.
1. Is your Wheelchair service procured as a separate service, or is it combined with other services
such as Community Equipment, Prosthetics etc. If so, which services is it combined with?
NHS Barnet CCG does hold this information.
The wheelchair service is an independent service.
2. Is your wheelchair service procured as an integrated wheelchair service (i.e. Assessments and
approved repair in one contract) or separately as different contracts?
Yes.
3. Is your provider/providers an NHS organisation or a contracted out non NHS organisation?
The provider is Non-NHS.
4. What is the name of your current Wheelchair Services provider – or if Approved Repair and
Assessments are provided separately, what are the names of the providers for each service?

5. Is your wheelchair service exclusive to your CCG?
No, the provider provides services to many organisations nationally.
6. If your service is combined with another CCG please provide a list of the CCGs that share this
wheelchair service and confirm who is the lead CCG
The integrated wheelchair service is part of a consortium arrangement with Brent, Central
London, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, West London and Barnet CCGs. West London is the
lead.
7. When was each part of your wheelchair service (Assessment, Approved Repair, or integrated)
last tendered?
The integrated wheelchair contract was awarded on 1 July 2016 following competitive
procurement.
8. When does the current contract expire? Please provide details of any potential contract
extensions.
Expires on: 30 June 2019
Extension agreed for a further two years.
9. Please provide the date this Wheelchair service will be next tendered.
We cannot confirm this information; contract extension has been agreed until 2021.
About your Wheelchair service
10. What is the size of the population covered by your wheelchair service?
Barnet CCG is responsible for the Barnet population; we are unable to comment on the whole
consortium population.
11. How many registered users are served by the Wheelchair Service
The CCG does not hold this information.

12. What is the contract spend in the last financial year for the integrated Wheelchair service?
The contract is a block arrangement that includes all consortium CCG’s. The 2018/19 spend for
Barnet CCG is £1,165,305, all other CCG’s will need to be contacted independently for their
spend.
