Dear MIKE BEDIGAN
I refer to your request where you asked:
‘I would like to know how many FOI requests have been made to you since 24 June
2016, with the word 'Brexit' in the subject. If it does not exceed the cost of compliance
limits, then please also provide the ful subject lines of the FOI requests.
If it does exceed the cost of compliance, please advise me on how to refine my request.
Please also provide a written response acknowledging receipt of this request.’
I am writing to advise you that fol owing a search of our paper and electronic records, I
have established that the information you requested is held by the Cabinet Office.
I must inform you that, by virtue of section 14(1) of the Freedom of Information Act, a
public authority is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the request is
vexatious. The Information Commissioner has stated that a request may be vexatious if
it clearly lacks a serious purpose or value, or if it would impose a significant burden on
the department. I consider that the release of the information you have requested would
be burdensome for the Cabinet Office to identify and compile and would also be of little
purpose and value to the public. I attach a copy of the Commissioner’s guidance on this
issue for your information. I shal take no further action on this request.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request or wish
to request an internal review, you should write to:
Eirian Walsh Atkins

issued.
If you are not content with the outcome of your internal review, you may apply directly to
the Information Commissioner for a decision. General y, the Commissioner cannot
make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by
