Dear Mr Elibank,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST
Thank you for your email of 25 November in which you have refined your earlier
requests relating to the notifications of Secretaries of Synagogues to the Registrar
General. Your request has been handled as a request for information under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Your initial request had asked for the notifications certifying all such Secretaries.
Your first refined request then requested those certified under sections 67(b), (c) and
(d) of the Marriage Act. We were unable to comply with those requests on cost
grounds. Your further refined request now requests that:
Please narrow my request to refer only to those notifications received under
section 67 ( c) of the Act, and those authorized by the Secretary of the Liberal
Jewish Synagogue (as in, I am now only interested in those notifications
pertaining to Liberal synagogues).
Whilst we are able to oblige in this instance, and whilst I hope that this response
answers your queries, please be aware that if you were to submit further refined
requests of your original (ie of all Secretary notifications), breaking them down into
smaller sub-requests, we might, depending on the circumstances of the case, decline
to answer if the aggregated cost of complying exceeds £600, as permitted by the
Fees Regulations.
In terms of your present request, we do not hold any notifications received under
section 67( c ) of the Marriage Act. Those notifications pertaining to the Liberal
synagogues have been received under section 67(d) of the Marriage Act. These are
attached in annexes to this letter. We have redacted personal information that
identifies an individual under section 40(2) and (3) of the Freedom of Information Act
2000.
