Dear Ms Grove
Freedom of Information Request Ref. No. 000004140
I write with regard to your request for information sent by email to St
Albans City and District Council. Your email was received by the Council
on 31st January 2020.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we are required to confirm what
information we hold, and if we do hold the information, disclose the
information, subject to exemptions or other provisions applying.
You requested:
The number of 4 bedroom council houses owned by the district council
The number of 5 bedroom council houses owned by the district council
The number which are currently Occupied
The number which are currently Vacant
The number which are currently UNDER Occupied
The amount of people waiting for 4 & 5 bed accommodation on the housing
list.
The average amount of time a current tenant of SADC transfer application
takes from 3 bed to 4bed and 3bed to 5bed takes.
Our response:
We can confirm that we do hold this information although it may not be
100% accurate. I will explain as appropriate below and of course figures
will change with resident turnover. I will explain this as appropriate.
The number of 4 bedroom council houses is 79.
The number of 5 bedroom council houses is 6
The number which are currently Occupied All
The number which are currently Vacant 0
The number which are currently UNDER Occupied
Our records do not show actual under occupation, the best we can do is
provide information on those wishing to downsize. Currently there are no
people in 4 or 5 bedroom units wishing to downsize. This does not mean
that there are people in this size of property who are not under
occupying, it just means no one wants to move from this size unit.
The amount of people waiting for 4 & 5 bed accommodation on the housing
list.
50 people are currently registered as live and in need of a 4 or 5 bedroom
property.
The average amount of time a current tenant of SADC transfer application
takes from 3-bed to 4-bed and 3-bed to 5-bed.
The average waiting time calculated within St Albans Home Choice for
moving to a 4 bedroom unit from whatever size unit is on average 1.2 year,
those moving to a 5 bedroom property from whatever size unit it is 2.25
years. We are not able to break the figures down any further.
If you are dissatisfied with this response the Commissioner’s Office
recommends that you first refer the matter to the Council. You can do this
by writing to [1][St Albans District Council request email] asking for an internal review of my
decision. If you wish the Council to undertake an internal review, then
you must write to the Council within 40 working days of the date of this
letter. The Council will not consider any requests received after this
date unless there are exceptional circumstances for the delay.
You have a right to appeal to the Information Commissioner's Office at the
following address: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
You must do this no later than two months after the Local Authority’s last
response to you.
Kind Regards
FOI Coordinator
