Role Purpose:
Lead the Council’s response to the post 16, school and early year’s achievement &
attainment agenda. To support and challenge providers and to facilitate the successful
operation of a Peer Led school Improvement model.
Act as Strategic Lead for the All Age Disability Service to include responsibility for the related
budgets (circa £30M) and statutory duties.
Liaise with and influence DfE and OFSTED, as they carry out their duties in respect of
Calderdale School College and Early Year’s providers. To liaise with and influence
Governors of all school and Early Year’s providers. Ensuring key elected members are
continually briefed as to the progress made by schools and Early Year’s providers. To
provide a regular overview as to the prospects for Calderdale pupils and students in relation
to Good and Outstanding provision.
Act as Strategic Lead for Adult Learning Services.
Contribute to the regional School Improvement activity as appropriate.

Mobile Workers
Mobile Workers typically work from a hot desk in an office and may need ICT access. They
tend to move about during the day to attend meetings with colleagues, customers, and staff,
and attend workshops etc. Mobile Workers are based with their teams in zoned areas to
ensure effective team working and co-ordination.
Circumstances
Flexible working is a key requirement, regular evenings and occasional weekends as well as
Corporate “On Call” duty rota.

Principle duties and responsibilities
1. Line management of key service managers as detailed in this profile.
2. Support and Challenge to Schools, College, Adult Learning and Early Years settings.
3. Leadership of the Peer Challenge System of School Improvement.
4. Lead relationships with OFSTED & DfE in respect of Education, Adult Learning and
Early Year’s function.
5. Provide the council with policy advice and guidance in respect of Education
legislation and statuary requirements relating to Adult Learning and Services to
Disabled People.
6. Operate as a member of Adult & Children’s Services Directorate Leadership team.
7. Deputise for the Director for Adut & Chidren’s Services and contribute to the
Corporate Leadership team as required.
8. Leadership and oversight of the All Age Disabiilty Service.
