Your request was received on 26 February 2018 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
Subject: Undergraduate Applications to Study HSPS (2017 entry) - King’s College The applicant
can be identified by Interview Identification Code 7c5bn in the email from Undergraduate
Admissions Office sent 24th November 2016.
Following a Freedom of Information Request to King’s College, I have been advised that the
information I seek is held by the University: “Such records would be held by the University.” -
Peter Jones, Freedom of Information Officer, King’s College, Cambridge.
I therefore request details of all information held by the University in respect of the Admissions
Complaints Panel’s deliberations - including details of the constitution of the panel, in respect of
the Admissions Appeal submitted on behalf of the above applicant and as referred to in the
following extract from the letter sent by Dr. Sandra Fulton - Chair of the Undergraduate
Complaints Panel, dated 31st March 2017; “The panel has reviewed your letter and the
associated correspondence from King’s College very carefully.”
The information you have requested, while held by the University, is exempt under section 40(3)(a)(i) of
the Act because its release would breach the first data protection principle (the fair and lawful
processing of personal data) as set out in Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 1998. The information
is the personal data of the individual applicant. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption
under the Act.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a
complaint or request an internal review of this decision, you should write to Dr Kirsty Allen, Head of the
