Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received on 28 December
2017. You asked: How many vaccine damage claims lodged with the VDPU in respect of the
Pandemrix vaccine and narcolepsy/cataplexy, said to be in the region of 60 -
70 persons, (1) have received an award since the DWP lost their appeal at
the Court of Appeal in February 2017 in respect of “John” who received the
Pandemrix vaccine and subsequently suffered from narcolepsy.
The VDPU have received 98 claims in respect of the Pandemrix vaccine and
narcolepsy/cataplexy. Of these, 2 have been awarded since DWP lost their
appeal at the Court of Appeal in February 2017 in respect of “John” and a
number of others are in the process of being reviewed.
