REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: FUNDING TO CLEAR LITTER
Thank you for your request for information, which we received on 29 November 2017,
about the amount of funding Defra provides to councils for the purpose of clearing litter
and fly-tipped waste. We have handled your request under the Environmental Information
Regulations 2004 (EIRs).
Defra does not provide any funding to county councils, district, borough or parish councils
for the purpose of clearing litter and fly-tipped waste, and so this information is not held by
Funding provided through the local government finance settlement is un-ring fenced. This
allows local authorities, who are independent of central Government, to manage their
budgets in line with local priorities.
