It would be nice of either side of toilet 'wall' was transparent, perhaps safety glass
so they can see through and in the middle will be some sort of gate system so
they can't get over but can see/get through.
Children's Centre
Again similar requirements but on an even smaller scale. These room(s) could
accommodate a crèche if an adult training session was taking place in the other
room or be one large room for a play and stay session. The following is not an
exhaustive list:
o High rise home corners. TTS catalog. They are like a tree house inside -
space upstairs and place to hide downstairs.
o Water
and
sand
table
o White Board placement will have to be looked at.
o Easel
o 3
tables
o 15
chairs
o 3 adult chairs but child height

Other Areas:
Dining Hall Space: Stackable tables and chairs; children height, possible 6 adult
low height but adult size seat. Maybe a book case. Don't want too much because
it is a multi functional space. Storage for plates, etc.
Audio system in the dining hall???
Non-class room storage: very functional shelving, not wasted space.
CC Storage: toy library completely shelved on one side with large space left at
bottom for larger toys.
Offices: 2 desks, cupboards with doors so things can be put and locked away
Standard office specification. Need privacy in terms of acoustics as much as
possible between the offices but able to have private conversations
Shared interview room needs can't be glass for privacy.
Outside Space:
3 to 5 year olds:
o Tree trunk coming over
o No climbing frame
o Large outdoor stand pit with a roof
o Water provision, trays - pond feature would be nice (waterfall one) at mid
height level so they can't fall in.
o Outside
tap
o Storage under the hill??? If not will need a fair amount of storage (at
present they have 4 big sheds and bike storage) store bikes, scooters, all
outdoor equipment.
o Textured Path to ride a bike, cobbled, smooth, other texture but it needs to
be flat.
o Outside musical area
o Wish
list:
o Tree house structure - higher than ground level would have to have
soft surface there.
o Can a slide be incorporated into hill - are the hills high enough?
o Dig pit, mud - in a natural environment with round circular logs that
make it an 'area'
o Cottage - NOT PLASTIC
o Rope swings somewhere??
o Cave in the hill - somewhere they can hide????
2-3 year olds:
o Similarly natural but will have a climbing frame (not plastic)
o Water, sand tray
o Easel
o Bikes
o Storage
o Etc
Children’s Centre:
o Even less provision but need storage, loose toys, water/sand, etc.
o Distinct space for CC activity – think this has been designed but the
drawing we were looking at did not have it.
All Outside:
o Electronic shutter or security mechanism would be ideal at the end of the
canopy.
o Sun
shades
o Drinking fountains near building
