Dear Ms Kochar,
Your request was received on 26 August 2017 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
Please provide the average UMS in best 3 A Levels and number of A*s at GCSE of successful
English applicants to all colleges since 2013.
Additionally, if possible please provide any weighting/ shortlisting formula used for English, and
any sheets/ mark schemes used in assessment.
The information requested in your first paragraph is attached. Please note that the attached document
should not be copied, reproduced or used except in accordance with the law of copyright.
The University does not hold the information requested in your second paragraph: these aspects of the
admissions process are set and managed locally by the individual Colleges, each of which is a
separate legal entity and public authority under the Act.

Notes
A Levels in England are currently undergoing a period of significant reform. Many applicants applying
from October 2016 onwards wil be fol owing linear, rather than modular, A level syl abuses meaning
UMS
that UMS is no longer available in a number of subjects. UMS and SUMS data provided in this request is
as supplied by the applicant at the point of entry, but may also include linear marks incorrectly
presented as such.
