Dear Mr Groom Re: Information Request CRM Ref. iw17/7/3456
Thank you for your information request dated 4 July 2017.
In response to your FOI we are able to attach ESRI shape files representing the current public rights
of way network on the Isle of Wight, the data approximately representing the routes as described in
the definitive statements. However, please be aware that the data included in these files does not
constitute the Definitive Map and Statement. The files are a broad copy of the Definitive Map and
Statement 2000 plus changes made to the network since that time. They are used as an indication
of the routes of paths and ways only and cannot be relied upon for any legal purposes. The data is
designed to be viewed at a scale of 1:10,000 (being the scale of the Definitive Map 2000). The
files also include Public Footpaths which are permanently closed pursuant to a Traffic Regulation
Order. There is also a file relating to a number of Byways Open to All Traffic (the Tennyson Trail)
which are permanently closed to all motor vehicles (with the exception of a permit scheme available
to blue badge holders).
I can confirm that the information is supplied to you under open data licence.
Please contact me again if you require any further assistance on this matter and I will do my best to
provide relevant help and advice.
If you have any complaints in respect of your information request, please write to the Corporate
Information Unit at the above address, or complete the on-line appeals form that can be found at
www.iwight.com. If your complaint is not resolved to your complete satisfaction, you have the
ultimate right, once you have exhausted the internal appeals process, to appeal to the Information
Rights of Way Manager
