Dear Mr Slater,
Thank you for your email requesting a review of the handling of your Freedom of Information
request dated 24 June 2017, reference FOI 2559.
In your email you asked to be provided with information answering the following questions:-
‘I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of
my FOI request 'Contract with CHDA Ltd & Assessment Assurance Provider'.
The Department's requirement for clarification did not apply to RFI4 and RFI5 of my original
request. Therefore, the 20 day clock was not reset for RFI4 and RFI5 and the Department
should have provided its response by now.
The ICO guidance is clear that the Department should treat each part of multi-part requests
individually,’
In response to your request, I can confirm that the handling of your original request has now
been appropriately reviewed.
Your request ‘Contract with CHDA Ltd & Assessment Assurance Provider’ (FOI 2559) was
received by the Department on 24 June 2017.
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act allows 20 working days from date of receipt of the
request in which to respond. We endeavour to answer promptly and no later than the 20 day
deadline, unless the deadline is extended to consider if an exemption applies.
The 20 working day deadline for the request was 21 July 2017, however I note that the
Department requested clarification from you regarding a part of your request, which was one
request for various pieces of information; it was not multiple requests to be considered
separately. Upon receipt of your clarification the 20 working day deadline reset to 18 August
2017.
In reviewing your request I do not uphold your complaint as the 20 working day deadline for
issue of response has not yet been reached.
The Department will provide a response as soon as possible.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review you may apply directly to the
Information Commissioner’s Office for a decision.
If you have any queries about this letter please contact us quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely,
DWP Central FoI Team
