This is a Freedom of Information request for the following information. Please provide me with; 1. A list of the hospitals and related buildings in your trust that contain asbestos in surveys carried out over the last ten years. Please include the following: a) Building name James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Lowestoft Hospital
b) Address James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Lowestoft Road Gorleston Great Yarmouth Norfolk NR31 6LA Lowestoft Hospital Tennyson Road Lowestoft Suffolk NR32 1PT c) Type and degree of asbestos present James Paget University Hospital Amosite (present in small quantities) Chrysotile (present in small quantities)
Lowestoft Hospital (Site has been closed since 03/12/2017) Crocidolite (present in small quantities) Amosite (present in small quantities) Chrysotile (present in small quantities) d) Whether it poses a health risk to staff and/or patients. James Paget University Hospital The Asbestos at this site presents a low risk because it is undamaged or encapsulated and it is being managed in accordance with 'The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012' and HSE Guidance.
Lowestoft Hospital (Site has been closed since 03/12/2017) The Asbestos at this site presents a low risk because the hospital building is unoccupied and the Asbestos is undamaged, encapsulated or is contained in secure areas. In addition, it is being managed in accordance with 'The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012' and HSE Guidance. 2. The date and outcome of the last independent audit, survey or inspection of each of these hospitals and their related buildings. James Paget University Hospital - August 2004 - Full Type 2 survey identified Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) James Paget Hospital - August 2004 to present - approx. 150 Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys undertaken before various upgrade projects.
Lowestoft Hospital - September 2004 - Full Type 2 survey identified Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) Lowestoft Hospital - August 2004 to present - approx. 20 Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys undertaken before various upgrade projects. 3. The details of any reported incidents of asbestos exposure in these hospitals between 2011 and 2016. 0 4. The number of hospital employees or patients that have pursued a claim against you for exposure to asbestos within your trust’s hospital buildings. None 5. The number of these claims that have been settled. None 6. The amount of money that has been paid in settlement of these claims (with and without your authority accepting responsibility). None
