Dear Mr Hallright,
Request under Freedom of Information Act 2000
Request Ref: NGFOI 10/11: 037
Review Response Letter
We received a Freedom of Information (FOI) request from you on 21st May 2010 at Northampton
General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) concerning bonuses paid to the Trust’s Executive team in
2008/09.
We were sorry to learn that you were not happy with our response to your request. In that
response, we advised you that any bonuses paid to the Chief Executive/Executive Team are
published in the Trust’s Annual Report and we provided a link to the report on the Trust website
(
because the information was exempt from disclosure under s21 of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 – Information accessible by other means).
You had looked at the report and had not found the remuneration details broken down between
salary and bonus payment in the remuneration report. You state that it is shown as one figure only.
You were therefore requesting that we:
a) give you the information from your original request or
b) indicate the page in the Annual Report where this information is given
We have now undertaken a review of our response to your FOI request following consultation with
the appropriate members of staff at NGH. I am now pleased that we are now able to provide you
with the information shown on the following page as a result of that review.

Review of Response from Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) to FOI request
Ref: NGFOI 10/11: 037
On enquiry, I have established that
there were no “bonuses” paid to the Trust’s Executive
team or other Trust staff in 2008/09.
We do not therefore hold information that meets the specification of your request.
Please accept our sincere apologies that the correct information was not provided to you in the
original response and for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
However, had any “bonuses” been paid to the Trust’s Executive team in the 2008/09 year the page
and table in the Annual Report and Accounts for that year (that you were directed to in our original
response letter) would have been the appropriate document/page/table to find the information
requested?
I hope that you will find the information provided helpful. I also hope that you will be satisfied with
the manner in which we have dealt with your request review. If not, please do let me know. Once
again, I enclose a Freedom of Information complaints procedure at Northampton General Hospital
NHS Trust leaflet for your information.
If you remain dissatisfied after the internal review, you may make an approach to the Information
Commissioner as outlined in the enclosed leaflet.
If there is anything you need clarification on, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Gwenneth McConnell
