Dear Mr M Pape
Freedom of Information Act – Request for Information
Our Reference: FOI 2181 & 2183
Thank you for your two Freedom of Information requests which were both received on 15
June 2016. In both requests, you asked:
It was stated in the Public Accounts Committee report on the Work Programme published
on 6 November 2014 that this programme was to be replaced and that no new referrals
were to be made to the Work Programme after March 2016.
From information that you hold can you confirm if this is still the case?
Are JSA claimants being referred to the Work Programme after March 2016?
What will happen to JSA claimants who have been referred to the Work Programme after
March 2016 given that the programme is intended to last 104 weeks and the programme
will be terminated before completion?
Work Programme contracts have been extended and referrals to the programme will now
continue until 31 March 2017. Work Programme contracts currently stipulate that participants
referred up to and including 31 March 2017 will spend two years on the programme.
For information current guidance for Work Programme providers states
‘Unless a participant
completes early, you will be expected to deliver 104 weeks of continuous support regardless
of whether a participant changes benefits, or moves into employment’. If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number
above.
Yours sincerely
