Dear Sarah Adams,

Freedom of Information Request Ref: 3955

I refer to your recent request for information about 2 bedroom properties.
The information you requested is as follows:

Could you please tell how many 2 bedroom council houses Epping Forest
Council has ? - 829.

Could you please tell how many 2 bedroom council flats/maisonettes Epping
Forest Council has ? - 827.

Could you please tell how many 2 bedroom council houses has 1 bedroom
unoccupied ? - We are unable to provide this information as Tenants
occupying our accommodation are not obliged to notify us if they have
unoccupied bedrooms. 

• The Council Tax department would have information on which households
are claiming a single person discount, but this would not identify
couples living in two-bedroom accommodation who are not occupying one
bedroom.

• The Income Recovery team may have information on households whereby
the benefit reduction for under occupiers has been applied, but this
would only show households in receipt of benefits and not those who
are paying the rent themselves.

• The Rehousing Team would be able to provide information on how many
households under occupying have registered to downsize, however
tenants are not required to do so unless they are on a fixed term
tenancy which is approaching it’s end date.

Could you please tell how many 2 bedroom council flats/maisonettes has 1
bedroom unoccupied ? - Please see above response.
