Dear Mr Pollock
Information request
Reference number: FOI2015/00887
Thank you for your request of 20 September 2015. You requested the following
“Please provide copies of all FOI requests received since you became
covered by the FOI Act.”

I have processed your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (FOIA)
I can confirm that we do hold the information.  The attached spreadsheet contains
the detail of the 820 FOI requests which had been received by Network Rail at the
date of your request.
I provide further explanation below:
•  Section 40(2) of the FOIA allows us to withhold information if it constitutes the
personal information of identifiable individuals, and its disclosure would
contravene one or more of the data protection principles of the Data Protection
Act 1998. For this reason, the information provided has been redacted (as
indicated by red crosses) to remove information such as names and contact
details, which could be used to identify individuals who may not expect this
information to be made public.

•  Our requests are logged on to a system called eCase and assigned a unique
reference number.  Where there is a break in the sequence of reference numbers
on the attached spreadsheet this is because the record is a test record, refers to
an internal review, or refers to a communication with the Information
Commissioner’s Office, and so is out of scope of your request.
•  The spreadsheet includes all requests whether these have ultimately been
processed under the FOIA or the Environmental Information Regulations 2004
•  In some instances we have needed to go back to the requester for clarification on
elements of their request.  Clarified requests are assigned a new record on our
system and in these cases text will be repeated in both the original and new
•  Anyone is able to make a request under the FOIA for recorded information which
they believe a public authority holds.  The subject of a request cannot, therefore,
be taken as an indication that we do, or do not, hold the information requested.
If you have any enquiries about this response, please contact me in the first instance
at xxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.xx.xx or on 01908 782405.  Details of your appeal rights are
Yours sincerely
