Dear Mr Marsh,
Re: Freedom of Information request - 35529
Thank you for your e-mail of 27th May 2015, in which you ask
Dear Home Office,
On 8th June 2011, the BBC reported 5 arrests on suspicion of sex-trafficking
offences following raids on suspected brothels in Pilgrim Street, Newcastle and
Foyle Street, Sunderland by the UK Border Agency and Police.
My questions are:
1. Following the raids how many confirmed victims of human trafficking were
identified?
2. Following the raids how many prosecutions and convictions were there for
trafficking offences?
Your request has been handled as a request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
I can confirm that this was an operation undertaken by the former UK Border Agency
and that following an investigation no victims of human trafficking were identified nor
were there any subsequent prosecutions.
If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal
review of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to
the address below, quoting reference 35529. If you ask for an internal review, it would
be helpful if you could say why you are dissatisfied with the response.
