Thank you for your request for a list of joint committees as defined under section 102 of the 
Local Government Act (LGA) 1972. 
The Commission holds some of the information you request, but not all. Section 102 of the LGA 
1972 defines joint committees as made up of ‘two or more local authorities’. The Commission 
holds a list of joint committees that are audited as defined under Schedule 2 of the Audit 
Commission Act 1998 ( The list 
the Commission holds contains the names of joint committees whose income or expenditure is 
more than £1 million:
