Dear Mr Winch,
Freedom of information request
Thank you for your email of 12 December 2014 requesting information about Oracle
software.
The University of Edinburgh is the largest university in Scotland and one of the UK’s top
rated research universities. It has over 32,000 students and over 8,000 full-time
equivalent staff. In 2012/13 its turnover was over £738 million.
Oracle software
The University currently uses version 12.1.3 of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) for HR,
Payroll and Self-Service purposes, a system which is used by 6751 people. The last
upgrade of this system took place in November 2013. A patching project, intended to
account for legislative amendments, will take place in March 2015. No version upgrade
is planned. We do not outsource for upgrades, patching projects or services, and we do
not have an Oracle Support Partner.
The tender portal used by the University is Public Contracts Scotland, and the member
of staff responsible for the EBS system is:
Martyn Peggie
Senior HR Partner Reward & Systems
