Jim Gleeson

Dear Transport for London,

Please provide data showing

(1) The length of roads (km) in 20 mph zones in the Greater London area, by road type and financial year of implementation.

(2) The present area and length of 20 mph zones by London borough.

Equivalent data was included in the 2008 report '20 mph zones and Road Safety in London: A report to the London Road Safety Unit', in tables 2 and A4 respectiveyl. I am seeking updated versions of these two tables.

Yours faithfully,

Jim Gleeson

Thank you for your e-mail received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29
June 2011 asking for information about 20mph zones in London.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and TfL's information access policy. I can
confirm that TfL holds the information you require. You asked for:

Please note that the report you refer to, '20 mph zones and Road Safety in
London: A report to the London Road Safety Unit,' was a one-off commission
in 2008 and has not been repeated since. London's most recent 2010 speed
limit map allows Transport for London to measure roads lengths by speed
limit band. These tables have been updated using this method, but it
should be noted that these data sets are not necessarily directly
comparable.

If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to
contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to

Dear Gemma,

Thank you for your response. Could you please provide the data in a tabular file format such as .csv or .xls, as I cannot do much with the borough data you have provided in its current format?

Yours sincerely,

Jim Gleeson
