Dear Sir,
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - (“The Act”)
We refer to your request dated
3rd April 2014, for the following information:
Please could you release to me information on how many Licensed Betting Offices were
licensed in the borough in each year from 2007 to 2013.
For clarity: I wish to understand the total number of bookmakers licenced in each year
2007-13 and how that has changed over time.
This means that licenced bookmakers whose licences have lapsed, been surrendered or
have been revoked need to be included, just information of when the currently licenced
premises were first licenced is potentially misleading when analysing the trend over time.
Some councils make their current register available online,
unfortunately this gives just the current number not the historic trend.
Within the requirements of the Data Protection Act we are attaching the following documents:-
1. Lists of Bookmakers for each of the North, Central and South Licensing Boards over the past
5 years, broken down by year. This gives the position from the implementation of the Gambling
Act 205 to date.
Please contact me as the officer responsible for responding to your request if you have any
further queries.
If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with this response, please refer to the further information
attached.
Yours faithfully
Freedom of Information Co-ordinator
Legal and Governance
