Dear Miss Begum

I am writing further to your request for information regarding A100 Medicine Welsh applications. A search of our electronic and paper records has been completed and I can confirm that the information requested is held by the University.

In answer to the request and clarification that you only required information in relation to Welsh applications:

Please can you provide me with:
1) The lowest/minimum UCAT score accepted into the A100 course for the previous 3 years

2018: 2570
2019: 2450
2020: 2530

2)How the personal statement is used to differentiate between applicants and if a scale is used, can you please explain what it is

2018 and 2019:
Personal statements were marked to a total of maximum of 16 points using set criteria set out by the School of Medicine.

2020:
Personal statements were not scored. They were read after an interview had taken place and before an offer was made to ensure that applicants had completed work experience.

3)How work experience is used to invite applicants to interviews

Work experience wasn't used to invite applicants to interview. For 2020 only, applicants were required to provide evidence of work experience as this is a pre-requisite of an application. Applications were not assessed based on work experience, this was just to confirm they had completed work experience as they mentioned in their personal statements.

4) Whether AS grades are going to be a factor into inviting applicant for interviews for 2021 entry as they were not able to sit exams

AS grades are not taken into consideration for this course.

If you are unhappy with the way in which your request has been handled and wish to request a review of our response or to make a complaint, please see the attached information sheet and form.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries regarding this email.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page
