Your request was received on 14 January 2018 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the 
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’). 
 
You asked: 
 
I want to request the scores of successful applicants for Economics for 2018 entry. 
Can you list: 
- college  
- unconditional/conditional offer  
- ECAA  
- GCSE number including separate counts for A* and A  
- Type of school (maintained/independent) 
Please can you arrange the data so the GCSE’s of each person and their school type is 
alongside their respective ECAA scores. 
 
The requested information is attached. There is limited data as a ‘successful’ applicant means one who 
had already (as of the date of the receipt of your request) met all the conditions of their (recent) offer. 
The University has withheld the College of each successful applicant because, coupled with the other 
information, it believes that individuals could be identified as a result. In presenting the information in 
this way, the University is engaging the exemption at section 40(3)(a)(i) of the Act because its release 
would breach the first data protection principle (the fair and lawful processing of personal data) as set 
out in Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 1998. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption 
under the Act. 
 
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a 
complaint or request an internal review of this decision, you should write to Dr Kirsty Allen, Head of the
