1998 - Demolition and Reconstruction of Tower Pier
Dear London River Services Limited,
In 1998 an application was made to demolish and reconstruct Tower Pier.
Records of any planning application made to Tower Hamlets appear to suggest that Tower Hamlets failed to make a determination of this application which was given the references PA/98/00527 and PA/98/00528. The applications were removed from any decision list in February 2011.
Please can you provide copies of all correspondence and plans associated with the demolition and reconstruction of Tower Pier.
Since the reconstruction identified, what further changes have taken place apart from what is identified in PA/11/01590.
What operational time constraints are currently in place for Tower Pier and are there any associated conditions of operation either from the LPA, TfL or GLA?
Yours faithfully,
Ralph Hardwick

You asked: In 1998 an application was made to demolish and reconstruct

apart from what is identified in PA/11/01590.
What operational time constraints are currently in place for Tower Pier
and are there any associated conditions of operation either from the LPA,
TfL or GLA?
TfL took over the ownership and management of Tower Pier from the Port of
London Authority (PLA) in 1999 and as such does not hold any further
records for the demolition and reconstruction of Tower Pier, originally
submitted by the Port of London Authority (PLA).
There have been no further changes to the construction of Tower Pier
following the works identified in PA/11/01590.
There are no operational time constraints for the pier or associated
conditions of operation. However, TfL has detailed licencing conditions to
ensure that all operators using TfL’s piers act safely and responsibly at
all times.
