Dear Mr Smith
TfL Ref: 0364-2223
Thank you for your request received by us on 14 May 2022 asking for
information about London Underground’s Northern line trains.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access
policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You
asked:
would it be possible to know if the 1995 stock ( Northern line) trains
contain any asbestos?
The 1995 Northern line rolling stock first entered service in 1998.
Although the original stock was manufactured before the ban on the use of
asbestos in 1999, London Underground were heavily involved in the
selection of materials used; therefore no asbestos containing materials
are present in this rolling stock and an asbestos survey is not required.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
