Dear Mr Robins,
SUBJECT: Freedom of Information Request
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request of 23 December, 2013.
Your request to the City Council was: As part of the Government Green paper (Support and Aspiration) The government has outlined a new
approach to special educational needs and disability. As part of this initiative the government requires all
local authorities in England to set out a Local Offer.
The purpose of the Local Offer is to enable parents and young people to see more clearly what services
are available to them in their area and how to access them.
Please provide answers to the following questions
What is your local authority currently offering for online advice and guidance for Local Offer?
What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local Offer within your Local Authority?
The City councils response to your questions is as follows:
1. The Requirement to publish the Local Offer does not come in to force until 1 September 2014 and
Salford City Council is not a Pathfinder Local Authority and as such does not currently have any
information on line. However, the City Council is fully compliant with the existing requirements to
publish online other specific information about SEN services. In order to be helpful I have included
the links to these services for your information below:
2. The name of the person leading on the development of the Local Offer in Salford is Eileen Buchan,
Head of Service, Integrated Youth Support Service.
The City Council considers it has fulfilled your Freedom of Information request. If you are dissatisfied
with the way your request has been handled, or wish to appeal this decision, you may wish to contact
David Sackfield, Head of Business Support and Information Management, Customer and Support
Services Directorate; email: [email address]
