Dear Mr Rogers
Re: High speed rail: Property Compensation consultation 2013 – Phase One
As you may be aware, the Government has given an undertaking to the High Court to
consult again on property compensation matters for Phase One of HS2, between London
and the West Midlands. I am writing to inform you that this consultation has now been
launched and to encourage your Local Authority to take part in it.
It is important that as many people as possible participate in this consultation, which will
help shape the type of compensation and support that is made available to property owners
affected by Phase One of the high speed network.
We remain committed to listening to the views of people close to the line of route. To
ensure that people are aware of the property compensation proposals we are writing to
properties within 1 km of the Phase One Hs2 line of route.
Taking part in this consultation
Attached with this letter is a copy of a leaflet that provides summary information about the
property compensation proposals upon which comments are sought, along with details of
how to respond to the consultation using dedicated response channels.
Information on this consultation, including all the relevant documentation, is available
online a
t www.hs2.org.uk . Paper copies can also be viewed at local libraries that have
agreed to display them, the names of which are on the website, or can be requested by
contacting 0300 123 1102.
Public information events are being held in each of our 26 community forum areas, details
of which are provided in the attached leaflet and are also available online at
www.hs2.org.uk . These events will give members of the public the opportunity to find out
more about the proposals for compensation and discuss them with HS2 Ltd staff.
This consultation will run until 04 December 2013.
Responses to the 2012 Property and Compensation consultation contain a range of
important information that has informed the Government’s and HS2 Ltd’s understanding of
the many themes and issues around property compensation matters. An independent
summary report of the issues that were raised through responses to that consultation has
now been published and is available to download on our websi
