Dear Fred Dawson

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your correspondence dated 14 September 2012 in which you
requested the following information:

Could you please provide the following information

Images and video of DU penetrators striking targets at VJ battery
     P&EE Eskmeals.

I am interested in images and videos showing the spray back of DU
from the butt onto the apron in the early years of the firing
     programme.

I firstly apologise for the slight tardiness of this reply, this was due to a mistake on
my part by miss reading the deadline date on the Ministry of Defence (MOD)
Freedom of Information (FOI) toolkit.
Following a search of our electronic and paper records to identify and collate the
information you have requested, it has become apparent that the MOD does hold
some information that falls within the scope of your request.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires the MOD to respond to questions
promptly and in any case no later than 20 working days after receiving a request,
which in the case of this correspondence, will be no later than 15 October 2012.

A VHS video that the MOD holds has been located that contains information that
falls within the scope of this request.  It also contains scenes showing employees
faces in sufficient detail to enable them to be recognised.  These scenes will be
redacted prior to release in accordance with Section 40 (Personal Information).
None of these redacted scenes fall within the scope of this request.

To enable the editing to be completed, and to transfer the video into a more modern
format, the film will be transferred to DVD format.  Unfortunately this means that the
MOD will not be able to provide a response within 20 working days.  A final response
to your request will be sent as soon as the video has been transferred to DVD format
and the Personal Information has been removed, but no later than 12 November.

I would be grateful if you could provide a suitable postal address to which I can send
this video to you (respond to: [email address]).
