10 Data request regarding the use of Prison Libraries HMP Brinsford

We're waiting for Mick Geen to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Staffordshire County Council,
To assist with PhD research studies related to the use of prison libraries in England and wales could you please provide the following information regarding the use of the prison library at HMP Brinsford.

1. How many individuals used the library each year 2010-2018
2. How many books in total were borrowed from the prison library for each year 2010-2018
3. How many fiction novels were borrowed each year 2010-2018
4. What were the most 50 borrowed fiction novels for each year 2010-2018
5. How many times were each of the top 50 borrowed novels issued each year 2010-2018

If this information is not available please give a detailed explanation regarding the reason for the lack of data.

Information not held - The prison should be able to provide this information.

Attached are issues figures for Brinsford between 2014/15 and 2018/19.
There is one sheet for each year showing the report for that year and a summary sheet at the end breaking the issues down into fiction, all book issues, other issues and total issues.
Please note - We are unable to provide the issues for 2010-2014 as we have a 6 retention policy and therefore do not hold information for this period.

3. How many fiction novels were borrowed each year 2010-2018

Data is included in the tables attached

4. What were the most 50 borrowed fiction novels for each year 2010-2018

We are unable to provide this information as this data is not held in a reportable format

5. How many times were each of the top 50 borrowed novels issued each year 2010-2018
