Dear Jo G, 
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received on 18th January 2012.   You 
asked for:- 
     I would like to know what is the guidance published internally for 
     use by job centre plus staff in which Jobcentre Plus managers and 
     advisers :- 
     1.judge which interventions will help individual customers and How 
     is the judgment made by the adviser/Manager? 
     2)what factors should be considered when making a referral. 
     3The safeguards that ensure that the referral is appropriate. 
     4.The specified activities which the customer should be expected to 
     carry out while completing the specified interevntion, 
     5)Ensure work activity is making a contribution to their community. 
     6)Giving the customer a specified understanding as of what they are 
     entitled to expect as well as what is expected of them 
     Including but not limiited to- courtesy relevant work experience, 
     Productive use of time, time keeping professionalism...... 
Unfortunately, I am unable to proceed with your request without clarification of the information 
you wish to receive. To help me do so, I would like to know  
1-6) To which benefit do your questions refer? 
1 and 4) Whether ‘interventions’ means an appointment with a Jobcentre Plus Adviser, or an 
appointment with a Provider, or something else 
2 and 3) Does ‘referral’ mean a referral to an Adviser, a Provider, or something else? 

5) Does work activity mean the DWP Mandatory Work Activity scheme or something else? 
6) Is this a general question, or is it in relation to a specific activity? 
Please note that if I do not receive appropriate clarification of your information requirements 
within three months from the date of this letter, then I will consider your request closed.
