The scandal involved Post Office Limited (and its predecessors) taking action against thousands of innocent subpostmasters for shortfalls in their accounts, which had in fact been caused by issues with the Horizon accounting software. mySociety has published a blog post with the title WhatDoTheyKnow and the Post Office Horizon scandal which contains more information about how requests users made through the site help to uncover more information about the scandal.
