Zoo inspection reports
Dear Argyll and Bute Council,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request information relating to zoos within your local authority area.
Zoos are defined by the Zoo Licensing Act 1981 as “an establishment where wild animals are kept for exhibition to the public otherwise than for the purposes of a circus and otherwise than in a pet shop”.
Please could you provide the following documents in relation to all zoos within your jurisdiction:
1. The most recent inspection report
2. The most recent stocklist
3. Any mortality lists and/or post-mortem results that may be available.
If applicable, please also provide:
4. Details of instances where a zoo licence has been revoked or an application for licence renewal has been refused, within the last six years.
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or phone. My contact details can be found below.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Wilding
